A Steam Double

Today's post, 10th March 2017, comprises eleven pics from three contributors, with two ex LMS 4-6-0 steam locomotives to the fore.

WINWICK AND BEYOND

The first two pics are from Mark Tombs. Mark was in Germany recently and visited Bremen where he took the following shots. Pic number one shows Bombardier-built class 185 electric loco No. 185 553 owned by Mitsui Rail Capital Europe (MRCE Dispolok). The working is a car transporter of around 250 Audi cars running north through Bremen Hauptbahnhoff, on 4th February 2017.

Mark's second shot features an Alstom Coradia LINT 41 diesel unit, No.VT648 373, operated by Nordwest Bahn. The route through Bremen and the date, are the same as above.

Jeff Nicholls has sent in the following seven shots. The first three locos were all taken at the recent East Lancs Diesel Gala . The first pic shows class 40 40145 on 18th February 2017 at Ewood Bridge.

Number two from Jeff features class 73, 73001 at Ramsbottom on the same date.

Class 47, D1501 is depicted next in Jeff's third pic, taken on the same date at Ramsbottom.

Ex LMS, Stanier 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0 No. 45699 Galatea is featured next, in two shots from Jeff. The first was taken at Winwick working southbound with support coach to Crewe, to pick up a train bound for Holyhead.

The second shot of the 'Jub' was taken at the same location but of a northbound working, three hours later, because the 'Special' had not even left Euston. The date for both shots was 1st March 2017.

The sixth shot from Jeff shows DB class 66, 60066, at Culcheth on the Fridays-only, Seaforth Docks-Tinsley empty wagons working. The pic is dated 24th February 2017.

Last from Jeff is DRS class 68, 68024, on a Rugby Special from Carmarthen to Edinburgh, taking supporters to the Scotland - Wales International match. This pic is dated 24th February 2017.

The final two pics have been sent in by David Wood. His first features Stanier 'Black Five' class 4-6-0, No.45212, working from the K&WVR (Keighley) to Castleton Hopwood, through Parkside Junction on 6th March 2017.

The last pic in this post is again from David Wood. Ex LMS 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0, No.45699 Galatea, is pictured passing through Winwick on a Carnforth - Crewe working, to pick up and head 'The Cathedrals Express' (Euston - Holyhead). The pic is dated 1st March 2017. The electric locomotive meant to head the Euston - Crewe leg, failed at Euston; as a result, the 'Special' was cancelled. See Jeff' Nicholls' pictures above of the same working.
