More SR and LMS Steam

Today's post. 30th July 2016, comprises nineteen pics from five contributors including a few shots of preserved steam locos from the Southern and LMS Railways.


WINWICK AND BEYOND



First up are eight shots from David Quayle.The first five were taken during his visit to the Mid Hants Railway (MHR), often called 'The Watercress Line'. Number one was taken at Ropley on 16th July 2016 and shows ex SR 'Schools' class 'V' 4-4-0, No. 925 (BR 30935) Cheltenham, designed by Richard Maunsell.







The second pic was taken at the same location, same date, and features ex SR 'West Country' class 4-6-2, No.34007 Wadebridge, designed by Oliver Bulleid. To the right is ex BR '9F' class 2-10-0. No. 92212, designed by Robert Riddles. To the left is No.925 again.








The third of David''s shots from Ropley taken on the same date features Ivatt class '2MT' tank locomotive No.41312. The loco is pictured alongside the tender of Urie/Mounsell 'S15' class 4-6-0, No.30828.









Ropley again, same date for this one from David showing the wider shed scene. In the picture are Nos.925, 41312, 34007 and 92212 described previously; class '08' shunter D3358, 'Lord Nelson' class 4-6-0 No.850 (BR 30850) Lord Nelson, ex LMS 'Black V' class 4-6-0 No.45379, and ex BR class '11'  re-numbered shunter 12049 (previously 12082). This shot was taken from the bridge previously used at Kings Cross Station - details on the MHR website.







This shot focuses on class '9F' 92212 in the previous shed scene at Ropley; same date.











David's following pics were taken at Winwick and feature two ex LMS designs of (Sir) William Stanier.  This one shows ex LMS class '5XP' (BR class '6P') No.45690 Leander with support coach on 23rd July 2016.



















The above two shots are both of ex LMS 'Princess Coronation' class '8P' 4-6-2, No.46233 Duchess of Sutherland heading the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' through Winwick on 23rd July 2016.




John Smith has sent in the following four shots. His first was taken at  Knottingley and shows class 09 diesel shunter 09106. The date - 13th June 2016.










Pic number two from John features EWS (DBS) class 66, 66016 leaving Potters with a Knowsley - Wilton working on 5th July 2016.











Freightliner class 66, 66505 is up next working an intermodal at Bolton Percy. The working was Tyne Dock - Felixestowe on 6th July 2016.











John's fourth and final shot was taken at  St Helens Junc' on 24th July 2016 and shows Stanier 'Jubilee' class 4-6-0, No.45690 Leander, (details above) on the Liverpool - Holyhead 'North Wales Coast Express'.










The next three pics are from Bevan Price. This one was taken near Atherton on 5th July 2016. Pictured is EWS (DBS) class 66, 66016 with a binliner empties working, Wilton - Knowsley,










Pic two from Bevan was taken near Rainford on 14th July 2106. Similar working as in Bevan's previous shot (binliners) but headed by EWS (DBS) class 66, 66105.










Bevan's third shot was taken at Weaste Cement Terminal on 22nd July 2016. Freightliner class 66, 66622 is depicted shunting cement tanks which had arrived earlier from Northfleet. When empty they were taken to Tunstead.










Two shots from Alan Rigby now follow. First up are double heading DRS class 37s, 37612 and 37606 at Llanfair PG working Valley - Crewe spent nuclear fuel flasks. The shot is dated 11th July 2016.









Alan's second  pic focuses on the Belmond 'Royal Scotsman' Railtour from Holyhead to Gloucester.  The locos are GBRf class 66s - 66743 and 66746. The location was Bangor and the date, 11th July 2016.






















The next two shots in this post are from Mark Tombs and both feature Stanier 4-6-2, No.46233 Duchess of Sutherland on the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' on 23rd July 2016 - see details above with previous pics.  The train was passing Dallam sidings at 08.50hrs  in shot one, running Crewe - Carlise (left) and at Dallam at 18.10hrs in shot two (right), returning Carlisle - Crewe.
