Clan Line's Farewell

In this post, 7th July 2015, we feature the farewell appearance of Oliver Bulleid's large 'Pacific', prior to its next overhaul. Altogether we have sixteen shots from seven contributors.

WINWICK AND BEYOND

Up first are two shots from David Wood. His first shows the Bulleid 4-6-2, No.35028 Clan Line, on its final appearance before a major overhaul. The shot was taken at Hargrave on 30th June 2015; the railtour was London Victoria - Chester.

David's second shot depicts a consist of five locos at Parkside on 29th June 2015. The five are Hanson Traction class 31, 31601 Devon Diesel Society (top), Bo'ness Diesels class 47, 47643, class 20, 20020, and class 26, 26038 and DRS nuclear traffic class 37, 37025 (tail) - the working was Bo'ness - ELR

Ieuan Wood has sent in the following duo. First up is DRS class 66, 66427 double heading with Freightliner class 66, 66508, through Red Bank on 29th June 2015.

Next, from Ieuan, is DRS class 57, 57309 Pride of Crewe heading a loaded ballast working from Carlisle. The location was Winwick and the date, 29th June 2015.

Alan Rigby is up next with three shots. His first shows the same Bulleid 'Pacific', No.35028 Clan Line, on the same railtour as above, on the same date and at the same location, Hargrave.

Alan's second shot features class 90,  90037 Spirit of Dagenham and failed class 92, 92036 Bertolt Brecht, on a china clay working through Winwick, on 1st July 2015.

The third and final shot from Alan shows DRS class 68, 68003 Astute  heading a Carlisle - Crewe engineers' working at Helwith Bridge, on 23rd June 2015.

Not before time, is an effort from myself. My brother and I went over to Beeston to photograph 35028 Clan Line on its final railtour, before its ticket ran out. This is the last of three pics in this post of the same railtour; date as above.

Next, are three pics from Jeff Nichols. First is a shot from Leyland Station of DRS nuclear traffic class 37, 37667 on a Derby-Carlisle test train. The pic is dated 27th June 2015.

Pic number two from Jeff features DRS class 57, 57309 Pride of Crewe on the tail of a Stockport - Ravenglass 'Northern Belle' railtour on 27th June 2015. The location was Leyland Station.

Another shot from Parkside is of the same, 5-loco consist as taken by David Wood above  - but from the reverse. Pictured are 37025 (tail), 26038, 20020, 47643 and 31601(head) - details above. The destination was the ELR's Diesel Gala.
