More Deltics

In this latest post, 4th October 2012, I am using several of the September dated pics remaining in the 'bank' so that they are included in the September 'Pic of the Month' competition; voting can start immediately after this post. The post comprises twelve pics from seven contributors but only one Winwick area pic, perhaps reflecting the current problems at Old Alder Lane.

WINWICK

Pic number one, the only one in this section is from Jeff Nicholls. Depicted is EWS (DBS) class 92, 92041, on the morning not so silver bullets' working (china clay), Dollands Moor - Irvine, at Winwick on 19th September 2012.

Code - September W15

ALTERNATIVE UK PICS

Matthew Chambers' visit to the ELR Diesel Gala recently produced some excellent shots of Deltic class 55s. Here are two more. Pic number two shows 55009 (D9009) Alycidon at Burrs Country Park on 22nd September 2012.  The loco is owned by The Deltic Preservation Society.

Code - September A17

Matthew's second pic, number three overall, shows a double heading pair of class 55s, 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier and 55002 The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in the same location, on the same date. 55002 is a NRM locomotive whilst 55019 is another owned by The Deltic Preservation Society.
Code - September A18

Pic number four has been sent in by Alan Rigby. Colas class 56, 56094, is pictured at Wigan North Western on 29th September 2012. The working was timber, Gloucester - Carlisle.

Code - September A19

Next up, pic number five, is from John Smith. DBS class 60, 60011, is shown on an aggregate working being loaded at Peak Forest, at night, on 23rd August 2012.

The next two pics are from Matthew Chambers again, from one of his latest forays to Doncaster. The Mediterranean Shipping Company liveried class 66, of GBRf, 66709 Sorrento, is pictured at Doncaster, working coal on 29th September 2012. This is shot number six.
Code - September A20

His second shot, pic number seven, also from Doncaster and taken on the same day shows why, for a pic, several locos are often better than one. Here is GBRf class 66, 66720, on a coal working sharing the picture space with  four Freightliner class 66s headed by 66515, travelling in the opposite direction.

Code - September A21

Alan Rigby's shot of Colas class 66, 66722 is next, pic number eight. The loco is depicted at Tamworth Low Level Station on a Barton Docks - Felixstowe working. The pic is dated 26th September 2012.

Code - September A22

A fairly local shot is next, something a little different, sent in by David Wood. The  weathered signal box at Rainhill is featured alongside the well placed Northern Rail ('nodding donkey') class 142, 142061. David's pic, number nine, is dated 19th September 2012.

Code - September A23

Up next, pic number ten, is a shot from John Smith. John has had a couple of shots from the 2012 Chasewater Railway Gala posted previously, and here is another. The double heading locos in John's shot are 0-4-0ST examples both belching out exhaust for the watching gallery. The first loco was Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST No.3 Colin McAndrew (1911) and the second, Bagnall 0-4-0ST loco Linda (1940). The pic is dated 8th September 2012.

Code - September A24

Bob McClellan was with John at the Chasewater Gala and photographed class 08 diesel shunter D3429. The pic was also taken on 8th September 2012. The goods working is shown at Brownhills. This is pic number eleven.

Code - September A25

The final shot in this post has been sent in by David Quayle. The Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST John Howe is pictured at Preston on the Ribble Steam Railway, receiving some 'TLC'. David's pic is dated 15th September 2012.

Code - September A26

Voting can start for the 'Pic of the Month', September 2012 competition. The voting system is simple - just send me the yellow September code numbers of the three pics you have chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section, Winwick and Alternatives (UK and World combined). All September dated pics posted between September 4th and October 4th are eligible and have code numbers. My email address is at the top of the blog. Everyone reading this post is eligible to vote, contributor or not.
