Four from Winwick; Ten Alternatives

Today, 28th October 2012, we have just passed 70,000 hits for our blog and are now averaging over 3,000 hits per month; not bad going considering we began less than three years ago. Congratulations to everyone who has contributed and especially to our readers/viewers. In today's post I am using another fourteen pics contributed by eight photographers; once again, text is kept to a minimum to save on space.

Unfortunately, I have to wait again for a convenient gap in our posts to continue with our 'retro' pre-2000 theme, but these pics are safe in a  separate 'bank' and some will be used soon. Please be patient if you have contributed.

First up is a Network Rail 'Sprinter', track recording dmu, from Jeff Nicholls. 950 001 is pictured at Twelve Arches on 26th October 2012.

Pic number three is another from Jeff, taken at Twelve Arches also. DBS class 40, The Territorial Army Centenary is shown heading Runcorn Folly Lane - Arpley tanks on 26th October 2012.

ALTERNATIVE UK PICS




David Quayle has provided the following two pics both taken on his recent trip to the ELR Gala. Pic number five was taken at Burrs Country Park on 20th October 2012. 0-6-0 loco, No.1744, has featured in several previous posts and details can be found from the search bar.

Pic number six from David was taken on the same date and features ex LNER class 'B1', No.60103 Mayflower, described in the previous post. Also in the pic, just,  is 'Jinty' 0-6-0 tank, 47324, also described in previous posts ( use the search bar for details).

Jeff Nicholls has sent in pic number seven showing two dmus at Exeter Maintenance Depot on 22nd October 2012. They were FGW two car,150125 and single car, 153330.

Ieuan Wood's pic of Stanier 'Black Five' 44806 is up next, taken at Llangollen on 22nd October 2012. This is pic number eight.

Out ninth pic has been sent in by Andy Parkinson and is a first for our blog. Ex Turkish Railways class 70, 70099, was pictured at Crewe Basford Hall on 20th October 2012 after being dragged from Newport. The loco was then dragged by Freightliner class 66, 66504 on 23rd October 2012, to Loughborough for tests.

Pics numbered ten and eleven are from Colin Platt, taken on his recent trip to the WSR Gala on 5th October 2012. First up is class '9F' 2-10-0 No.92203 Black Prince, owned by wildlife artist David Shepherd.

Colin's second pic, number eleven overall, features Ivatt 2-6-0 loco, No.43106, standing at Minehead and described in the previous post. The date was as above.

Our twelfth shot is another from David Quayle, this one taken at the K&WVR Gala on 14th October 2012. In David's panoramic shot taken at Haworth, are locos numbered 957, 41241, 80002 and 43106 - descriptions for all can be found from the search bar.

Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70011 is up next, pic number thirteen from John Smith. The working was Crewe - LBT empty hoppers, the date was 8th August 2012 and the location was Acton Bridge.









Our final shot, number fourteen, is from David Hennessey. 0-6-0 loco No.1744, is once again the focal point in this shot taken at Irwell Vale on the ELR, on 20th October 2012.
