Six Winwick, Six Alternatives

As the title aptly describes, the dozen shots in today's post, 13th July 2012, are split equally between the Winwick and alternative areas. Nine contributors are represented.

WINWICK

First up is an unusual shot for Winwick involving four, yes four, EWS (DBS) class 92s on a single working. 92011 Handel, 92019 Wagner, 92025 Oscar Wilde and 92027 George Eliot are pictured, by John Smith, with a loaded coal trial working, Arpley - Carlisle and return, on 9th July 2011.

Pic number two is from Jeff Nicholls. Featured are double heading WCRC class 37s, 37676 Loch Rannoch and 37685 Loch Arkaig. The Spitfire Railtours special was running Leeds - Aberystwyth through Winwick, on 7th July 2102.

DRS class 66, 66415, is up next in an older pic, number four, from Jeff Nicholls. The coal working was taken at Winwick on 26th March 2012.

Bob McClellan has sent in the next pic, number five, taken at Red Bank on 5th July 2012. The Grangemouth bound aviation fuel tanks were headed by Colas class 66, 66847.

Next up, pic number six, has been sent in by Geoff Monks. Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70005 is pictured approaching Monks Siding signal box on the mid-day Ellesmere Port - FFPS coal working. The pic is dated 7th July 2012. Geoff adds that this was the last day for semaphore signals on the low level line as they will be abolished or replaced with coloured equivalents.

Voting has started for the 'Pic of the Month', June 2012 competition. The voting system is simpler than ever - just send me the yellow code numbers of the three pics you have chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section, Winwick and Alternatives (UK and World). All June dated pics posted between June1st - July 6th have code numbers. My email address is at the top of the blog. Everyone reading this post is eligible to vote, contributor or not. Following my continued pleas for voters the situation is improving slightly. However, it is noticeable that some contributors who are not voting are doing well in the competitions.  This is simply unfair and if it continues the rules/guidelines will have to be changed next year. Keep on sending in your contributions and please vote.
